How can we help you?
General
To provide appropriate treatment with a successful outcome, the specialist needs to clinically assess and diagnose your child's concerns in person- before they can tailor a plan that best suits them.
As children are not little adults and particularly when there have been past negative experiences, if they present at a new clinic where there is a different clinician and a foreign environment, please understand that attempted treatment is highly unlikely to be successful. It is normal for them to be fearful of the situation and the unknown. Introductions, familiarisations and preparation with our team is required to proceed with ideal treatment outcomes.
Should your child require sedation for their treatment i.e. nitrous-oxide sedation or general anaesthesia, these procedures require significant planning before the event.
Dr Evelyn Yeung is certified as a handler for Mr Miso, our certified therapy dog. Mr Miso helps create a happier and more relaxed atmosphere for children during their dental visits.
He is a miniature poodle, so he has a double non-shedding coat, so he is a great fit around people with allergies.

As the old saying goes, prevention is better than a cure. At Happy Smiles For Kids we would like to identify factors that are contributing to the problem(s) and take preventive measures. There are a variety of factors that can be undertaken to aid with improving long term behaviour and comfort with being in the dental environment i.e. familiarisation techniques, and measures taken to prevent decay from developing. Depending on your child’s requirements, regular appointments may be recommended more regularly than six or twelve-month intervals. Management recommendations are made according to evidence-based publications—which include but are not limited to:
- Fissure sealants
- Remineralisation therapy i.e. fluoride applications
There are range of conditions that may cause concern in relation to a child’s oral health, as well as their functional development. This can include lip ties, tongue ties, erupted teeth and small swellings. Dr Evelyn Yeung and Dr Linda Huang have had additional training to provide surgical procedures using a diode laser. Some of the procedures provided (but not limited to) include:
- Removal and biopsy of soft tissue lesions i.e. mucoceles
- Lip tie release (upon referral)
- Anterior tongue tie release (upon referral)
- Surgical exposure of unerupted teeth
- Removal of excess soft tissues
Pending the procedure required and age of the patient, sedation may be required. The most appropriate form of management will be discussed at length.
